He Treats Me Better Than You Can

A poem

You showed up at my door,
With flowers in your hand,
But you never brought them when I needed you,
You only show up now, when I’ve found another man.

I see the regret in your eyes,
You miss what you had, it’s clear.
But where was this love when I stood by your side,
Begging for the things I can now hold dear?

He treats me better than you ever could,
He sees my worth, he understands.
While you took me for granted, he’s holding me close,
Giving me all that I asked for with open hands.

You say you miss me, now that I’ve gone,
But it’s too late, I’ve moved on.
I found someone who makes me feel seen,
And he loves me in ways you never have, nor ever can.

He listens when I speak, he cares when I cry,
He lifts me up, doesn’t let me fall.
You had the chance, but you let it slip by,
Now I’m with someone who gives me his all.
