I remember the first time you told me you loved me.

We were sitting on the porch, the sun setting behind us, casting a warm glow over everything.

You looked me in the eyes and said, “I love you.”

And in that moment, I believed you.

I believed every word, every promise you made.

I thought to myself, this is it — the person I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.

“I’ve never felt this way before,” you said, taking my hand. “You’re the one, the only one for me.”

And I smiled, feeling like the luckiest person in the world.

I was so sure of us, of you.

I thought you were different, someone who would give me their all, not because they wanted something in return, but because they truly loved me.

In those early days, everything seemed perfect. You were attentive, caring, always putting me first. I remember telling my best friend, “I’ve found him, the one who treats me with so much respect and love. It’s like a dream.”

But dreams don’t last forever, do they?

The first argument took me by surprise.
