What I Didn’t Say
I thought keeping quiet was safer,
like I had all the time in the world
to figure out what to say.
But time doesn’t wait. It never does.
You showed me who you were,
in every little thing you did.
I saw it, I felt it,
but I told myself it didn’t matter.
I was scared —
scared of saying the wrong thing,
scared of what you might expect,
scared of what I couldn’t give.
And now, standing here,
I see how much I let slip by.
You were trying. I wasn’t.
And I thought there’d be another chance.
If I’ve learned anything,
it’s this:
Don’t hold back love,
because once it’s gone,
you’ll carry the silence forever.
