You Said You Loved Me
You told me you loved me, and for a while, I truly believed you.
I thought I had finally found the one, the person I’d spend the rest of my life with.
I thought you were different.
I thought you gave me your heart without expecting anything in return, simply because you loved me.
And I was overjoyed to have someone treat me with so much care, respect, and love — without any hidden motives.
But then, slowly, your true colors began to show.
You started picking fights. You told me I didn’t love you enough,
that I wasn’t giving you as much as you gave me.
You said you couldn’t feel my love,
as if what I offered would never be enough for you.
Your words cut deep.
And now, I can’t fully open my heart to you,
because I’m scared of who you might turn out to be — someone I never really knew.
Was I wrong to trust my instincts? Was I blinded by love?
My mum always warned me to guard my heart,
to never trust anyone completely,
but I was ready to share every piece of myself with you.
Now, I find myself holding back again.
I wonder, what if one day you decide that I’m not the one,
that you’ve changed your mind?
Maybe I do have trust issues,
but I can’t ignore the doubts that are now clouding my mind.
